D45 – Our brand new rod breakdown machine has arrived
In mid-September it finally arrived – our new D45, a brand new rod breakdown machine to be installed during this quarter. Joacim Höglund is the project leader for the installation:
– This type of machine takes some time to get up and running, after the decision of the investment is taken. It has taken two years for the supplier to tailor it for us. Then, once delivered, we need some time for the installation, some on-site adjustments and finally for the set up and education for the staff when it comes to the specific software. We are planning to be up and running with D45 in early January. It is a rather complicated process to install such a big machine and it takes some adjustments in the factory itself, such as the plumbing and cooling for instance.
The new D45 will increase the production capacity for us and hence it is a very welcome addition to us at Dahrén.
New ovens in the Q department ensure faster test results
Quality is extremely important to us, since our products is a vital part of our customers´ products. No chain is stronger than the weakest link. A winding wire from Dahrén shall always considered to be a strong link and hence our quality department has an important role in testing the characteristics of our products. We are planning for some substantial investment right now, of which the first is new ovens.
Kaj Sjunnesson, Vice President Quality, Environmental and Regulatory Affairs comments:
– The new ovens allow us to perform more parallel tests regarding aging, which is essential for the automotive industry for instance, meaning that more products will be able to be tested in a shorter period of time. The sooner we can provide the customers with accurate test results, the better.
Reliable production with UPS secured power supply
Loss of power in the factory is a risk factor that might have a negative impact on delivery times. To avoid that, we have invested in a powerful power back-up system, which will secure factory operation even during a power loss in the national power net. Håkan Svensson, CEO at Dahrén comments:
– It’s vital that our customers can rely upon our agreement regarding product performance and quality, but also on delivery times. Our winding wire product is an important part in their products, and delays may cause severe disturbance in their production chain. With the back-up battery solution we now have added, specially tailored for our needs, we are comfortable that we have increased our reliability as a supplier even more.

LWW Group and Elcowire Group have decided to cease the production at Isodraht GmbH in Mannheim, Germany
Jonslund, Sweden, 14 of May 2020
The volume produced at Isodraht will be relocated to the other manufacturing sites within the LWW Group and Elcowire Group in Europe. The consolidation of production capacity will enable us to strengthen our competitiveness of our core business and improve our ability to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations of quality, flexibility, and service. We are convinced that the ability to produce and deliver according to the high standards, that Isodraht’s customers are used to, will remain.
Isodraht GmbH will continue being an excellent sales company and service provider for the winding wire market. The products will continue to perform through the trademark Isodraht, and the Sales department, Customer service and Logistics will remain in Mannheim. Our customers will be in good hands also in the future, and the changed location of production will contribute to improved technology and application know-how, both related to Elcowire Group and LWW Group.
Further information will be forthcoming and directly communicated to all our stakeholders, although we think the relocation will be unnoticed in the day to day business by our customers.
Isodraht has a long history and an appreciated workforce, so to close the production in Mannheim has been a very difficult decision to take. Nevertheless, a necessary decision to ensure competitiveness going forward. A dialogue with works council at Isodraht has been initiated and we are positive to find an acceptable solution for the employees and the company. In the meantime, all efforts are put into continuing our ongoing daily business activities.
